Remarkable Wines in a Relaxing Atmosphere
Two Vineyards...Two Terroirs...
One Goal...Quality 100% Virginia Wine
Fifty-Third Winery and Vineyard is located in Louisa County, Virginia, nestled amongst rolling hills in a traditional farming community. The estate was licensed as the 53rd farm winery in Virginia in July of 1999 (we were formerly known as Cooper Vineyards). In July of 2015 the winery was sold to Dave and Susan Drillock, who have since made it their personal mission to craft quality Virginia wines that express the uniqueness of the Virginia terroir.

Currently we are tending two vineyards, the 53rd Vineyard located in Louisa, Virginia and the Simmons Gap Vineyard located in Free Union, Virginia. The 53rd Vineyard site has 22 acres with 18 in production: Albarino, Chardonel, Viognier, Vidal Blanc, Chambourcin, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The Simmons Gap site, also known as Windy Meadows Vineyard, has 12 acres in production, including Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Our annual case production fluctuates around 4000, and we have a substantial wine club with over 850 members. Our wine club members are invited to monthly appreciation days, winemaker dinners, elevated tasting experiences and more.
